Dibond Signs: Tough, Flat, Weatherproof Aluminium Signs Printed Sharp and Cut to Size in the UK

A sign on a shop front, a business entrance or a building site has a harder life than one on a wall indoors. It faces rain, sun, wind and the occasional knock, and it still needs to look sharp months later.

That's what Dibond is for. It's rigid, flat, light and made to be outdoors, with a smooth aluminium surface that takes print beautifully. If you want a sign that looks professional on day one and still does on day 500, Dibond is the material to choose.

We print and cut custom Dibond signs in our own High Wycombe workshop. Send your artwork and we check it for free. You get a proof to approve and an honest ready-by time.

What are Diabond Signs

Dibond is a rigid aluminium composite panel: two thin skins of aluminium bonded to a solid core. The result is a board that's flat, strong, and weather-resistant, but much lighter than solid metal. It's also called aluminium composite, ACM, or di-bond. (CONFIRM: core material and any brand wording you want to use, as Dibond is a brand name)

A Dibond sign is simply a Dibond panel with your artwork printed directly onto the aluminium surface, then cut to size. Because the surface is smooth and non-porous, print comes out crisp and colourful, and the panel stays perfectly flat. They suit shop signs, business name plates, entrance signs, boundary signs, hoarding panels, promotional signage, and photographic prints.

Why Choose Dibond Signs?

  • Built for the outdoors: Dibond doesn't rot, rust, or warp like cheaper materials. It's the go-to choice for long-term outdoor signs in all weathers. (CONFIRM: weather-resistance and expected outdoor lifespan claims)

  • Flat, rigid, and professional: Dibond stays flat, with no bending, sagging, or rippling. That crisp, hard-edged finish makes a sign look smart and established.

  • Light for its strength: Much lighter than solid aluminium or steel, so it's easier to fit and puts less load on walls, fences, and fixings.

  • Sharp, vibrant print: The smooth aluminium surface holds colour and fine detail well, so logos, text, and photographs look crisp. (CONFIRM: print method, inks, and any UV or fade-resistance claims)

  • Long-lasting, so good value: Dibond costs more than Foamex or Correx, but it lasts far longer outdoors, so it often works out better value over time.

  • Cut to any size or shape: From A5 name plates to large boards and hoarding panels, cut to your size, and shaped if you need it. (CONFIRM: maximum size and custom shapes)

How to Order Your Dibond Sign

  1. Tell us what you need: Size, finish, quantity, and where it's going.

  2. Send your artwork: Upload a print-ready file, or send your logo and wording and we'll help shape it. We accept PDF, AI, EPS, JPG, and PNG. (CONFIRM: design service and cost)

  3. Approve your proof: We check your artwork for free and send a proof. Nothing prints until you say so.

  4. We print and cut: Printed at high quality and cut to size in our workshop.

  5. Collect it or have it delivered: Ready from High Wycombe at the time we promised. (CONFIRM: delivery options, areas, and installation)

Tips for a Dibond Sign That Looks Great

  • Send high-resolution artwork: Vector files (PDF, AI, EPS) give the sharpest print at any size.

  • Keep text big and bold: If someone can't read it from the distance they'll see it at, it's too small.

  • Use high contrast: Dark on light or light on dark reads best, especially outdoors.

  • Choose the right finish: White for a clean, bright look, brushed aluminium for a premium, metallic feel. (CONFIRM: finishes)

  • Think about fixings: Standoffs give a modern, lifted look, and screws or adhesive give a flush finish. Tell us the surface and we'll advise.

  • Check local rules first: Fascia signs, and signs on listed buildings or in conservation areas, may need advertisement consent from your local council.
