3D Lettering Signage: Custom 3D Letters & Logo Signs That Make Your Shop Front Stand Out

Flat signs get glanced at. 3D signs get noticed. When your name stands proud of the wall, it catches the light, throws a soft shadow and looks like a business that cares about every detail. That’s exactly what shoppers pick up on in the first few seconds.

We design and make custom 3D lettering signage in our own High Wycombe workshop: 3D acrylic letters, metal letters, moulded letters, cut dimensional letters and 3D logo signs for shop fronts, reception walls, lobbies and offices. Send us a photo of your premises and your logo, and we’ll come back with a free design and a clear quote. We check your artwork for free, and nothing is made until you approve your proof.

What Is 3D Lettering Signage?

3D lettering signage is signage with real depth. Instead of printing letters flat onto a board, each letter or logo element is made as a solid, raised piece and mounted on a wall, fascia or panel. You may also hear it called 3D letters, 3D lettering, dimensional letters, built-up letters or three dimensional signs. They all mean the same thing: letters you can see, and feel, standing out from the surface.

The depth gives a premium, modern look that flat signs can’t match. 3D sign letters sit proud of the surface, catch the daylight and create natural shadows, so your shop name reads clearly from across the street. They work on shop fronts, in reception areas, lobbies and offices, and on exterior walls.

In short, if you’re looking for sign letters that make a business look established, 3D letters are one of the most effective upgrades you can make.

Our 3D Signage Options

3D Acrylic Letters & Acrylic Logo Signs

Glossy, crisp and modern. 3D acrylic letters can be cut from thick acrylic or built up in layers for added depth, in gloss or matt colours. They look superb on shop fronts, reception walls and logo walls, and they’re the heart of our acrylic 3D signage range. A 3D acrylic logo sign gives your brand mark a polished, dimensional finish.

Best for: 3D wall logo signs, shop sign letters, reception and lobby signs, office signs and 3D acrylic logo wall signs. [CONFIRM: acrylic thicknesses, colours and layering options]

See our acrylic signs page for flat acrylic signs.

3D Metal Letters & Signs

Strong, durable and refined. Metal 3D letters, in aluminium, brushed finishes or powder-coated colours, are the go-to choice for outdoor sign letters and exterior letters for signs. They suit exterior walls and long-term outdoor use, with a premium, architectural look.

Best for: exterior signage lettering, 3D metal letter signs, shop fronts, building signs and business entrances.

3D Moulded Letters

Moulded lettering is shaped to give smooth, rounded, seamless letterforms, with a sleek, high-end finish and consistent shapes across every letter. If you’re searching for moulded letters in the UK, these are designed for bold, branded typefaces.

Best for: large, bold lettering, rounded and branded typefaces, and a consistent finish across multiple letters.

3D Cut Lettering & Dimensional Letters

Solid letters cut from thick sheet material and fixed to the wall or fascia. Clean, bold and classic. 3D cut out signage can be made from acrylic, Foamex, PVC or metal, depending on where the sign will live. See our fret cut sign page for flat cut letters.

Built-Up Letters

Built-up letters have a face and sides, like a shallow box, giving the lettering real depth and a clean edge. They’re popular for shop fronts and can be made with lighting inside.

Lightweight 3D Letters

Need something lighter or more affordable? Lightweight options such as foam and polystyrene 3D letters suit indoor displays, short-term use and large lettering.

3D Gel Letters

Domed, glossy resin letters with a smooth, gel-like finish, often used for badges, plaques and small branding.

3D Logo Signs & 3D Wall Signs

Your brand mark made solid, with raised elements, layered colours and clean edges. Perfect for 3D lobby signs, reception 3D wall letters and shop interiors where people see the logo up close. A 3D logo sign is one of the simplest ways to make a reception wall feel like part of your brand.

3D Illuminated Letters

Want your 3D sign to glow after dark? Face illuminated 3D lettering lights the front of the letters, while halo-lit letters glow around the edge. Both keep your business visible in the evening. See our 3D illuminated signs page for the full range.

3D Printed Letters & Signs

Some people search for 3D printed letters or 3D printed signs. These are made by a different process, building plastic layer by layer. Our 3D lettering is cut, built up or moulded from sheet and solid materials, which suits larger signs and outdoor use. If you want a small, intricate piece, tell us and we’ll advise.

Outdoor Sign Letters & Exterior Signage Lettering

Outdoor sign letters face rain, sun and wind every day, so the material and fixing matter. For external signage lettering, metal and weather-resistant acrylic are the best choices, fixed with the right studs or adhesive. Tell us the wall type, the exposure and how long you want the sign to last, and we’ll recommend the right 3D outdoor signs.

For a simpler outdoor option, see our fascia signs and Dibond signs pages.

3D Signage Design: From Photo to Finished Sign

Great 3D signage design starts with your premises. Send us a photo of the shop front, wall or reception, plus your logo and wording, and we’ll mock up your sign on the photo so you can see exactly how it looks before a single letter is cut.

Your logo and colours. We match your brand as closely as the material allows.

Your font and layout. We suggest the best letter height, spacing and depth for the wall.

Your proof. You approve the design before anything is made.

Want to see more of the shop? See our 3D shop visualisation page for realistic 3D previews of your whole shop front.

Materials, Depths & Finishes

Materials: acrylic, aluminium and other metals, Foamex, PVC and moulded materials. Aluminium composite panels and sealed LED modules are used where a sign needs a backing board or lighting.

Depths: thicker letters throw more shadow and feel more premium. We’ll advise on the right depth for your wall and viewing distance.

Finishes: gloss, matt, brushed and painted, in your brand colours.

Fixings: studs and spacers give a slight shadow gap, and adhesive suits lighter letters. Tell us your wall type and we’ll advise.

Which 3D Sign Is Right for You?

Not sure? Tell us where the sign is going, how long it needs to last and the look you want. We’ll recommend the best material, even if it’s the simpler or cheaper one.

3D Letters vs Vinyl Lettering vs Flat Cut Letters

People often compare 3D letters with vinyl lettering. Here’s the simple difference.

3D letters: solid, raised letters with real depth. Premium, and they catch the light.

Vinyl lettering: thin, flat lettering stuck onto a surface. Quick and low cost, but it has no depth.

Flat cut letters: cut from a single sheet, thinner than 3D. See our fret cut sign page.

If you’re not sure which gives you the look and budget you want, ask us. If flat letters or a printed board will serve you better than 3D, we’ll say so.

How Much Does 3D Signage Cost?

Price depends on a few things:

  • Size: the height and width of the lettering.

  • Material: acrylic, metal, moulded or cut letters each have a different price.

  • Depth and finish: thicker letters and special finishes cost more.

  • Number of letters: a short name costs less than a long one.

  • Lighting: adding illumination changes the price.

  • Fitting: whether you need installation as well.

Because every sign is made to order, we quote each one clearly, with no hidden extras. Send your wording or logo and dimensions and we’ll give you a price with no obligation.

Looking for sign letters for sale? Every set is made to order, so you get the exact size, font and colour you need.

Where 3D Signage Works Best

  • Shop fronts and fascias: 3D shop front signs for retail, restaurants, cafés and salons

  • Reception and lobby walls: 3D lobby signs and 3D office signs where first impressions count

  • Offices and corporate spaces: a branded wall in the reception or meeting room

  • Exterior walls and building signs: weatherproof materials for 3D outdoor signs

  • Showrooms, hotels and venues: a premium brand wall

  • Schools, nurseries and community buildings: welcoming, durable signs

Pair your 3D letters with a fascia sign, interior wall design and a bespoke counter so the whole shop tells one story.

What Makes Us Stand Out

Honest timings, always. The cut-off and ready-by times we give you are the real ones. Larger 3D projects usually take around a week, and we’ll give you a clear date before you order. If we can’t hit your date, we tell you before you order, not after.

Free artwork check on every order. Before anything is made, we check your file for size, bleed, resolution and avoidable mistakes, then send a proof for your approval. For 3D signage, we also check that your letter shapes and fine details will work in your chosen material and depth.

Made in our own High Wycombe workshop. We design, make and finish in-house. No middlemen, no mystery about where your sign is.

One team, start to finish. Design, cutting, assembly and fitting come from one team, with one point of contact and one clear price.

Family-run, since 2013. We’ve helped shop owners, start-ups, charities and local businesses get seen for more than a decade.

Backed by Discount Sign & Print. Our parent company’s workshop and team stand behind us. If your project grows into illuminated signs, shop branding or a full fit-out, we can handle it all.

You talk to the people making your sign. Call, WhatsApp or email and you reach the workshop. No call centres, no ticket numbers.

Honest advice, even when it’s simpler. If flat cut letters or a printed board will serve you better than 3D, we’ll say so.

How to Order Your 3D Signage

  1. Tell us what you need. Wording or logo, size, material and where it’s going. A rough sketch or a photo of your shop front is plenty.

  2. Send your artwork. Upload your logo as a vector file if you can (PDF, AI or EPS), or send what you have and we’ll advise. We also accept JPG and PNG. [

  3. Approve your proof. We check your artwork for free and send a proof showing how the sign will look. Nothing is made until you say so.

  4. We make and finish it. Made to order in our workshop, finished and quality-checked.

  5. Collect it or have it delivered. Ready from High Wycombe at the time we promised.

Tips for 3D Signage That Looks Brilliant

  • Choose a bold, simple font. Thicker letterforms look better in 3D and read from further away.

  • Think about depth. Thicker letters throw more shadow and feel more premium.

  • Pick colours with contrast. Light letters on a dark wall, or dark on light, read best.

  • Match the material to the setting. Metal for long-term outdoor use, acrylic for polished fronts and interiors.

  • Plan the fixing. Studs, spacers or adhesive change the look. Tell us your wall type and we’ll advise.

  • Send a vector logo. PDF, AI or EPS files give the sharpest cut.

  • Keep it short. A short name reads best, and costs less.

  • Check local rules. Shop and fascia signs, and signs on listed buildings or in conservation areas, may need advertisement consent from your local council.

16 questions
What is 3D signage?

3D signage is signage made from raised, solid letters or logos, mounted on a wall or fascia so they stand out with real depth. It’s also called 3D lettering or dimensional letters, and gives a premium look that flat signs can’t match.

What materials are 3D letters made from?

Acrylic, aluminium and other metals, Foamex, PVC and moulded materials are all popular. Acrylic gives a glossy, modern look, metal suits long-term outdoor use, and moulded lettering gives smooth, seamless shapes.

Can 3D letters be used outdoors?

Yes, in the right material. Metal and weather-resistant acrylic are the best choices for exterior walls and shop fronts, fixed with the right studs or adhesive.

Can 3D signs be illuminated?

Many can. LED illumination, including face-lit and halo-lit styles, makes raised letters glow at night. See our illuminated signs page for options.

What is the difference between 3D letters and flat cut letters?

3D letters have visible depth and can be built up, layered or moulded. Flat cut (fret cut) letters are cut from a single sheet and are thinner. 3D gives a stronger premium look, while flat cut is simpler and lower cost.

What is the difference between 3D letters and vinyl lettering?

inyl lettering is thin, flat lettering stuck onto a surface. 3D letters are solid and raised, so they catch the light and cast shadows. Vinyl is quicker and cheaper, while 3D looks more premium.

How are 3D letters fixed to the wall?

Usually with studs and spacers for a slight shadow gap, or adhesive for lighter signs. We can advise on the right fixing for brick, render, cladding or glass.
