In everyday UK use, not much. Most people use the words for the same thing. If you want the technical answer:

•       Car decals are usually cut from solid-colour vinyl. There's no background, just the letters or shape, so it looks painted on.

•       Car stickers are usually printed in full colour, often on a white or clear background, and cut to shape. Ideal for photos, gradients and detailed logos.

Design Tips for Car Stickers That Look Great

•       Think about distance: Car stickers are read from a few metres away, often while moving. Bold letters and simple shapes work best.

•       Contrast with your car: White or bright decals on dark cars, black or dark decals on light cars. Not sure? Ask us before you order.

•       For business, keep it simple: Your name, what you do and your phone number or website. That's all people need.

•       Mind the curves: Deep curves, door handles and panel gaps can break up a design. Send us a photo and we'll help with placement.

•       Use vector files if you have them: PDF, AI and EPS files give the sharpest edges, especially for cut vinyl lettering.

Fitting and Removing Your Car Decals

Most car stickers and decals are easy to fit yourself. Every order comes with application tape, so lettering and logos go on in one piece.

•       Clean first: Wash the area, then wipe it with a little rubbing alcohol so it's free from wax and grease.

•       Fit in mild weather: Above about 10°C and out of direct sun is ideal.

•       Wait before washing: Leave it 48 hours before washing the car, and avoid aiming a pressure washer at the edges.

•       Removing it later: Warm the vinyl gently with a hairdryer and peel it back slowly. Any leftover glue comes off with a little adhesive remover.

How Much Do Car Stickers Cost?

The price of your car decals depends on:

•       Size: Bigger designs use more vinyl.

•       Type: Single-colour cut vinyl is usually the most affordable. Full-colour printed stickers cost a little more.

•       Quantity: The more you order, the less each sticker costs. Great for clubs, events and fleets.

•       Design: Your own print-ready artwork is cheapest. We can design it if you need us to.
